| By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. | |
| By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: | |
| For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. | |
| Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. |
| For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. |
Commentary
- Our homes aren’t are final resting spot so don’t get so comfortable.
- All of this is saying God is not laying charges against you.
- Abraham was the first example of those that went from-to.
Genesis 11:26
| And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran. | |
| Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. | |
| And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. | |
| And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. | |
| But Sarai was barren; she had no child. | |
| And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. | |
| And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran. |
History of
Abraham
Genesis 12:01,04
| Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: | |
| So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. |
Commentary
- God called Abram and Sarai, later to be known as Abraham and Sarah and called them to go to Canaan.
- The name Heron means “halt or delayed”. This is a spiritual picture that points out that God starts the trip and stops along the way to rest.
Romans 8:28-34
| 28 | And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. |
| 29 | For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. |
|
| Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. |
| 31 | What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? |
| 32 | He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? |
| Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth? | |
| Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died? yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. |
- God knew you before you were born and picked you out before you were born.
- He had to wait till you born in order for him to call you way back in the dateless past.
Romans 4:05
| But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. |
- You’re in the process of being Justified but the process is already finished.
